January 25, 2016 – RehabDetoxTreatment.com is excited to take part in the National Institute of Health’s (NIH) National Drug & Alcohol Facts Week observance happening Monday, January 25 to Sunday, January 31. This annual observance is dedicated to teens and partners them with scientists and other experts who want to shatter the myths about drug and alcohol abuse. Over many decades, teens have received misinformation about drugs and alcohol through images and content online, and through music, movies, television, friends and more.
The National Drug & Alcohol Facts Week was launched to stimulate communities to hold educational events that teach teens what science proves about drug and alcohol abuse and addiction. During these school and community gatherings, teens will hear from drug experts and scientists about how drugs and alcohol will affect their brain, body, behavior, athletic performance and more. You may be wondering why this week is so necessary? For starters, NIH studies show about a third of high school seniors report using drugs sometime in the past year. In addition, over 20 percent state smoking marijuana in the past month and five percent report using potentially addictive prescription pain relievers for nonmedical purposes. It is crucial that teens learn early on about the scientific facts of drugs and alcohol so they can make better life decisions and share correct information with their peers.
